My spiritual growth and awareness over recent years has been an extraordinary journey. I conceive my spiritual awakening to have been a remarkably swift evolution in the scheme of my lifetime - 5 or 6 years out of my 53, is a short period of time. This exciting journey of inner body and universe discovery will continue until the moment my body dies - now that I have found this path, I will find it impossible to leave it, for this is the path that leads to true peace and happiness every day of my life.
God doesn't come into it for me, for I do not have a god or any structured religion in my life. But I do have faith - faith in my inner being, and faith in the Universe.
Meditation has been my latest quest for knowledge. I have only undertaken one 'lesson' so far, but I think I have enough understanding to practice on my own. There are many different forms of meditation, and the one I took part in was a chakras meditation. It was a fascinating and enlightening experience.
Chakras are vortexes of energy of our inner body. "The chakras are an ancient model for awakening and balancing your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energies." The more freely energy flows within us, apparently the stronger our state of health and well-being.
The human body has 7 chakra points:
Considering I have a busy and unruly mind, I managed well for my first experience. I found it somewhat difficult breathing effectively while concentrating elsewhere, but I'm satisfied with my initial efforts. I was able to focus on the specific chakra point and the allotted colour light energy entering my body. But something quite unexpected happened towards the end - the indigo blue light entering my body through the centre brow (the third eye), was edged with sparkling gold, as was the violet light entering through the crown of my head. This was completely unexpected, and my instructor later explained that the gold indicated 'knowledge'.
Another amazing detour occurred right at the end of the meditation - the voice instructed to clasp the seed of growth in my hand, then to unfurl the fingers and let a blue bird fly down to take the seed of attainment and plant it in the soil. Well, that's not what happened - a bird flew down and gathered the seed and dropped it onto a white fluffy cloud. The cloud then turned pretty shades of pastel mauve and pink. This was not a conscious thought - it was a vivid vision. My own interpretation of that vision is that I do not need to simply have my needs met, planted and plucked, but that I have a need to search them out.
I'm looking forward to experimenting with meditation. My mind goes through seemingly endless cycles of thought and worry, and I get side-tracked from things that really matter. If I can still and quiet my mind, surely this will enhance my mental and physical well-being. I want to know more about my inner being, my soul, the nature of my existence, the Universe.
