An Angel's Kiss

An Angel's Kiss - by Gaye Drady

It's warm and snug where I play and sleep.
I roll end over end, and take a leap,
Smile with glee as I bounce around,
Kick and wave like a silly clown.

There's bedtime stories and a sing-a-long,
A happy tune, my favourite song.
I'm so very lucky that I can hear,
Though it's kind o' muffled, not crystal clear.

Mum calls the kids - "Come and feel"
Big brother and Siss jump and squeal,
They snuggle up and kiss my face,
Love me tender, with heartfelt grace.

I feel a hand on my tiny head,
My Mum and Dad are now quiet in bed,
Daddy caresses Mummy and me
A loving embrace, just us three.

I drift off to sleep to a gentle hum,
Mummy's breath and her beating drum.
But it's growing cold, something's wrong,
There's missing notes in the rhythmic song.

With a shining light an angel came
Scooped me up and spoke my name,
Carried me off in silent flight,
Off away in the dark starry night.

They'd lost the dreams they held so dear.
A lifeless birth, terror and fear,
They cradled their babe, kissed her goodbye,
Wept together, and screamed to the sky.

On a bright spring day I watched from above,
With peace and sorrow and pride and love.
Tears of grief beside my grave,
Mum and Dad were very brave.

"Rest in peace, little baby Mya".
My soul was freed, higher and higher.
Remember the warmth, remember the hope,
Keep me near and you will cope.

A gentle breeze touched Mummy's cheek,
Daddy felt it, his body went weak,
'twas an angel's kiss, gentle and sweet,
"I'll keep her safe until again you meet".

Hi Gaye
Lovely poem, and I can imagine the "screaming to the sky".
A niece of mine had several miscarriages, then a stillborn baby, and it was a very poignant time for the whole family.
Fortunately, she carried full term successfully later on.
There is hope.
Beautifully written, Gaye.
Cheers
Denis

Hello Denis,

thank you for sharing your family story of your niece's tragedies, and then the blessing of a child. It is always wonderful to hear of the rainbow at the end.

Kind regards,
Gaye
